I Can Do it Better

Day 27, Saturday: http://emanaleghfeli.livejournal.com/996.html (for full description)

"I can't remember why I left the dorms at 3am but I do remember that I was crying.. Upset about something and when I was on Mohammed Bin Zayed Road I saw a car; a white Camry with KSA plates on and next to it I saw a woman on her knees. Something told me to stop next to that car.. I stopped in front of that car and started checking the rear mirror, I wiped my tears away, I fixed my shaila right and said 'Oh Allah, please let it be alright' as I stepped out of the car.

The woman saw me and started crying loudly, screaming 'I'll give you anything you want ANYTHING but please help me.. No one stopped for me so please don't let me down'

I was terrified and I asked myself 'what if I can't help her?' But then I remembered that I'm capable of doing anything! So I approached and sat next to her and asked her 'Calm down, what's wrong? I'll try to help you.'

She took a deep breath and said, 'My husband and I came from Jeddah by car and we were on our way to Sharjah, then suddenly the car stopped working; my husband didn't know what's going on so we stopped, then a car stopped for us and we told them our story, they promised to help us! They asked my husband to get into the car so he can get someone who can actually fix our car..' She cried harder this time '.. But two hours passed and he didn't come back! My phone is in his pocket. I'm scared, what if something wrong happened to him? What if those men deceived him or killed him?' She held my shoulders.

To be honest I didn't know what to do at first but I calmed her down by saying that I'm a marine and I showed her my ID so she can trust me. Then I asked her to give me her husband's phone number and full name so the police can track him.

After thirty minutes I got a call from a friend.. She's a police officer and she asked me to bring his wife to Sharjah's police public prosecution. I asked the lady to come with me and she agreed she wouldn't refuse a chance that might help in finding her husband.

I drove to Sharjah and got public prosecution. The place was so quiet as if criminals don't function before the dawn. I met the inspector and explained everything to him.

He sighed and said 'Sergeant Mahra we face lot of problems from the same kind, this lady is lucky that she found you unlike her poor husband..’

The lady interrupted and said, ‘ What happened??’

The inspector calmed her down, 'thank god he's fine now. The poor man asked for help from the wrong people. They promised to take him to the nearest garage but they robbed him and threw him at the middle of Sharjah's industrial areas.'

'Then how did you track him? Since he was raided.' I asked.

'Well.. We got a call from one of the garages where the manager told us the entire story, so we brought him here and that's when you called so thankfully everything was solved.'

'What about the robbers? And where's my husband?' The poor lady asked.

'Your husband described their appearances and ride; we'll bust them soon! And I called your husband he'll arrive in few minutes.' The inspector smiled.

Few minutes later the man came in. He ran and hugged his wife as if he hadn't seen her in years! I heard her whispering things to her husband and crying. It was a beautiful sight, seeing them reunite after going through a horrible day.

Later they thanked us for helping them. We promised them that we’d work with their embassy to make sure that everything goes well with them.

Colonel Faisal, you asked me why I left the dorms at 3am right? I can remember it now.. I left it because you keep on reminding me and all of the girls in the troop that we aren't tough like the males; no disrespect sir but I do believe that I'm strong enough to take care of my country just like any individual in this society, sometimes you try to break our spirits but you can't, do you know why? Because there are beautiful moments where I see people feel secure and happy due to our presence, just like the couples I helped.

Anything anyone can do, I can do it BETTER. Words and actions won't stop me from loving and protecting my country.

Regards,
Sergeant Mahra."
